Founder of the school
Damo Mitchell
A teacher of the Daoist Internal Arts, an author of books on Nei Gong, and the founder of the school whose tradition we follow.
Damo Mitchell was born in the United Kingdom, into a home where martial arts were part of daily life. He began training at the age of four, in Japanese and Chinese fighting systems. As a teenager he took up Qi Gong, meditation and the basics of classical Chinese medicine.
In his twenties he left for Asia and spent many years there, in China, South East Asia and India, learning from teachers of martial arts, Daoist alchemy, Chan Buddhism and medicine. He was initiated into Long Men Daoism and into Chan Buddhism.
In 2004 he founded the Lotus Nei Gong International school in the UK. Its teachers now hold classes across Europe, the United States and South East Asia, and its headquarters is in Ubud, Bali. He also teaches online through the Internal Arts Academy and directs the Xian Tian College of Chinese Medicine.
The school teaches Nei Gong, Qi Gong, meditation and the internal martial arts: Taijiquan, Xingyiquan and Baguazhang. He hosts two podcasts, The Damo Mitchell Podcast and Scholar Sage.
